driving and cupcakes

So I haven’t been pursuing an adventure everyday. It’s hard!

A week from yesterday, however, my friend, Micheal, taught me how to drive a stick shift. My dad attempted to teach me years ago, but after shouting matches and the constant grinding of gears, he gave up.

This time, though, was fun.  Micheal started me out in neighborhoods. No parking lots for me. The hardest part was easing off the clutch and onto the gas while in first without stalling out the car. I got the hang of it eventually and was able to cross “learn to drive a stick shift” off my list.

On Friday, a gentleman that I have worked with for almost 10 years retired so we had a potluck at work. I made spaghetti cupcakes (not real spaghetti). They came out of a book called Hello, Cupcake! by Karen Tack and Alan Richardson. They came out great. I took pictures, but because I don’t have a digital camera, it’ll take a while to get them up.

I have also started a new tradition at my job called Cupcake Monday. Basically, I am going to bring cupcakes every Monday, made from scratch. I’m hoping this will help with the Monday blues and boost morale. A friend of mine was telling me about a book that is subtitled something along the lines of “how to make your co-workers fatter than you.” That might also be a reason behind Cupcake Mondays.

Todays cupcake was Applesauce Spice, which I got from patentandthepantry. They were a big hit and everyone is excited for more cupcakes.

If anyone has anything interesting for me to do, let me know!

Today I got up, went to work, came home. Tomorrow I will get up, go to class, come home. Friday I will get up, go to work, come home. My life is insanely uninteresting. What’s a girl to do?! Well, I have decided to become interesting. How you may ask? Well….I’m not quite sure just yet. I have this book, Swim Naked, Defy Gravity & 99 Other Essential Things to Accomplish Before Turning 30 by Colleen Rush. It has some interesting ideas. Swimming naked is definitely not boring. Maybe I’ll try that? I’m open to suggestions here. I just don’t know if I can live another day of the same day-in, day-out monotony that I have been for the past 26 years. I want to have fun, throw caution to the wind, go crazy! So….help. Like many other people, I have a “life list”. Some people know this as a bucket list – a list of things to do or accomplish before you die. Some of the things on my list are pretty common (#6 – pay off credit cards). Others, maybe not so common (#18 – get an Indian head massage; look it up on YouTube. amazing). I’m thinking that my list is a good start. There are a few things that I can attempt to accomplish now, but they aren’t really….interesting. Where is the fun and excitement in learning to sew? So, help me out. I am hereby vowing to do something interesting everyday. Let me know what ya got. Go.
